I'm trying to convert some VOB files to MPG2 so I can edit them. After trying almost every method listed on this site and coming up with various audio sync errors, absent video, and so on, Simple File Joiner worked perfectly. The audio was in sync, the video was all present, etc...but the VLC-listed runtime for the video was 4:03. Despite that, the entire 2:56:50 of video played.
However, when I opened the file with Screenblast movie studio, it functioned as a 4:03 long video file with no audio track, and functions as only a 4:03 length video in all other programs I can think of to rebuild the MPG.
Is there a way I can fix this, and get this full video to function?
I have a cheesy STB TV PCI FM tv tuner card and I would like to back up my VHS tapes. The video looks pretty good, it's just that the video seems to jump a little bit. In other words, the video is smooth for like a seocnd, then it pauses for a tenth of less of a second (looks almost like 1 frame maybe). It is not skipping the frames (at least virtualdub and Dscaler do not report it) yet both capture programs (ok so Dscaler isn't a capture program, but the recording function it not that bad in all actuallity) record video with this problem. I tried the JudderTerminator or whatever it is called in Dscaler, and it works for the displayed video, but the captured video seems untouched. My specs are:
Abit KT7-RAID with AMD AthlonXP 1600+ (running at 1.05... my K7S5A's IDE 2 port was faulty when it arrived so I used my trusty KT7)
WD 153Ba primary drive and 2x WD400BB Capture drives in RAID 0 config
512MB of PC133 RAM running at 100Mhz
STB TV PCI w/ FM (bt848 based card)
Win2K
And I am using the Picvideo MJPEG codec, although all codecs show this problem. Also All resolutions show this problem. Thanks for your help.
EDIT: If you could tell me a way to "hack" my generic capture drivers to allow me to capture at 640x480, that would be cool also. When I used the STB drivers in win98, I coud capture at 640x480 with no problems (other then the fact that back then, it was a PII400 and not an Athlon 1.05, so the video had skipped frames).

Hi! Hi all,
I need to create a DVD that will play in an actual TV DVD player & most PCs (if possible).
Firstly I was given a copy of 2 folders:
AUDIO_TS
VIDEO_TS
There is nothing in the AUDIO_TS folder!
But in the VIDEO_TS folder there are 11 files:
VIDEO_TS.IFO
VIDEO_TS.VOB
VTS_01_0.IFO
VTS_01_0.VOB
VTS_01_1.VOB
VTS_02_0.IFO
VTS_02_1.VOB
VTS_03_0.IFO
VTS_03_1.VOB
VTS_04_0.IFO
VTS_04_1.VOB
I bought the latest copy of Nero to burn the DVD (and also I included a slideshow)
BUT, when I copy over the .VOB files to either Nero there seems to be an audio delay of about .5 seconds during playback!
I also have access to an installation of Adobe Encore, but I also get the audio delay using that!
Does anybody know what application I should use to convert these VOB files (obviously without the audio delay)?
& what format I should convert them into for the best quality when creating a DVD?
Maybe I shouldn't convert the files at all?
But I need to create a DVD that will play in a TV DVD Player & most PCs (it's ok if they need a DVD drive)
Please can someone tell me the right way to go about this...PLEASE?
I have already been advised:
"don't convert.....this is what you do...
All DVD's are built in the format you have above (file structure) after they are created.
Start Nero>select DVD>select DVD Video>you will have two folders on the left, one Audio _TS and one Video_TS...the audio will remain empty always the key folder is the video_TS....copy all your IFO, VOB, and (BUP if you have them) by dragging them over and dropping them onto the Video_TS folder....then burn."
But I also need to include a NEW slideshow into the DVD, as well as a new menu & actually create my own, with the mehod you describe how would I do that?
Much thanks,
Al
p.s. I have both Nero & Encore!
I would prefer to use Encore because teh manu editing facility is far better & Nero probably can't create the menu I require!
Hello all..
I'm capturing satellite TV from my receiver via my Cannopus ADVC-100 (S-Video) to DV format using Sony Vegas. Now, I understand that the broadcast comes letterboxed (so there are small black bands above and below video).
After the DV footage is capture I convert it to XivD using Vdub. Now, my question is, how do i remove the letterboxing and view the video full screen without the black bands.
I figure there must be a way to do it between sony vegas and Vdub.
Oh and by the way the DV footage is caputred at 720x480.
Please help me out with this as it's been botherin me for a while now.
Thanks!!!
I downloaded a SVCD, re-encoded it for adding subtitles.
After that I calculated the bitrate, andI filled it into TMPGEnc
Now I wanna burn it as SVCD with Nero
When I start nero, select as "type" SuperVideoCD and add the .mpg-file to the "disc" it says it can't, because the file is too big, but I've some older SVCD (which I burned as .BIN) and the .mpg files on those CD's are sometime over 800,... kb
So whats the problem? If I do it as .bin, should it work than?
Or is it just impossible
Hi,
I am in the process of selecting notebook computer that I can use for DV capturing, editing and recording. I never did any DV editing before and teherefore do not know what configuration will suit me well. I was looking into HP pavilion 5500 series customizable PC with the following specifications:
CPU: Mobile Pentium(R)4 2.80 GHz
Memory: 512MB
Hard Drive: 80GB 4200 RPM
Optical Drive: DVD+RW/R and CD-RW Combo
Display: 15.0" TFT WVA SXGA+(1400x1050)
Graphics Card: Mobility Radeon(TM) 7000
OS: MS Windows XP Pro
With IEEE1394 port and 64MB shared video memory.
I am concerned about shared video memory and slow HD. How shared video memory affects DV capturing/editing process? Will it be a problem that will reflect on quality ? Since it is DV there should not be any losses ?
Is slow HD can be a problem ?
Any suggestions are very welcome.
Thank you.
Valeriy
DVD-R VS. DVD+R
WHICH IS BETTER TO USE TO BURN VIDEO TOO?
WHICH IS MORE ACCEPTED/PLAYS MORE OFTEN IN DVD PLAYERS?
...THANKS IN ADVANCE!

I've been trying to do a VCD (family video) and i finally could. Now i would like to add some menus like to organize the video in chapters...so i can easily have access to a given part of the video. I'm using ULEAD VIDEO STUDIO 7... nice prog btw....the thing is that i do evrything (background music, background pic, menu thumbnails, etc) but when i burn the VCD it doesnt appear. Anyidea what could i be doing wrong....burned 3cds already dont wanna keep wasting my cds
only 5 left.
thx
Lots of my Xvid AVI files with mp3/ac3 streams have low audio when played on a pc.
I have fixed this problem many times by demuxing the audio track, reencoding the audio with some gain to normalise, and then remuxing with the original video.
However I'd like to be able to achieve a similar result in real time whilst playing the video file, and so save all the hastle of demuxing and reencoding.
For Ac3 files I understand I can achieve this with AC3Filter, but does this also support MP3 streams? According to what I've read it doesn't...
So is there a similar filter or booster to use with MP3 audio in an AVI file?
Thanks in advance
