me again, can u please explain to me on how i take streaming videos (.asx or like ones u stream through a real player or windows media) and make them into mpeg, thanks
FACTS
- I transfered VHS VCR home movie to Sony TRV-17 miniDV camcorder
- The audio/video stays in sync throughout the entire 1 hour video when played back in the camcorder
- Then, I transfered the video to my PC using Premiere Pro 1.5 capture
- A DV AVI file was created
- I imported the DV AVI file to the timeline in Premiere Pro 1.5
PROBLEM
- The video becomes out of sync from the audio as the video progresses in the timline
HOWEVER
- The video stays in sync when viewed in Windows Player 9
I have transfered lots of video from my MiniDV camcorder and have never had this problem. Any suggestions?
I have made about 40 VCD's but last night I made Bedknobs & Broomsticks from Disney Channel. When I load avseq01.dat in Windows Media Player it says playing at the bottom but it stays at 00:00. It has never done this before. The thing is though, it wont work with Twins Video Player or any other from this site but it does play on WinDVD and my Samsung? What up wit dat? Can anyone help?

Hi.
I have a Encore DVD project (4.7 GB), where the complete footage is DVD compliant (GOPs < 15 frames, total bitrate < 9.8 Mbps, DD or PCM audio, ...). The footage comes from DVB-S (satellite), went trough Cuttermaran (for cutting and to make sure it is DVD compliant).
All assets in Encore are set to "Don't transcode".
Now ... when building the DVD, Encore 2.0 starts to transcode video, despite the fact all footage streams are set to "Don't transcode". If I let the DVD build, I get 7.73 GB in the VIDEO_TS folder. The total of the footage is only 4.22 GB.
I.e. for some reason, Encore transcodes video, which is DVD compliant.
I'm really stuck at this point!
Any ideas ... ?!?!

Thanks,
Thinking of making the switch from x86 as I do a lot of video encoding and I believe I'll notice a performance gain, however I only have 2gig of ram at the moment and heard amd64 used significantly more ram? Is this true? I'm planning on upgrading to 4gig in the near future. CPU is Q6600.
I have 5 mpeg files in PAL DVD resolution (720 x 576, 25 fps, 8Mb CBR) that I need to play back sequentially. I am using the TV output from my ATI AIW Radeon 7500 into a video recorder to turn these 5 files into a 3 hour tape. I have tried creating a playlist and using the standard Windows Media Player that comes with Win XP Pro, but there is a pause between one file finishing and the next one starting. It isn't a long pause, maybe half a second, but during the pause the output shows a quick flash of my desktop image.
I can get around it by maximising the video image on the monitor but if I do that, I can't do anything else while I am recording the video. This wouldn't be a problem if I only wanted one copy of the tape, but I need 30+ copies!
I have done this previously using the original version of Creative Media Player that came with an old Soundblaster 1024 soundcard, but as I now have a later soundcard, I've got Media Player 2 which won't play video files.
Is there a software player that will play these files sequentially, either with no pause between one file and the next? Or a player that will output a black screen during any pause (all files fade to and from black at each end)?
Incidentally, I've got a full version of PowerDVD which came with one bit of hardware or another, but have never loaded it as I don't use the pc to play DVDs. Would this be capable of doing the job?
Thanks in advance.
Richard
Hallo
MPlayer interrupted by signal 11 in module: decode_video
- MPlayer crashed by bad usage of CPU/FPU/RAM.
Recompile MPlayer with --enable-debug and make a 'gdb' backtrace and
disassembly. For details, see DOCS/en/bugreports.html#crash

This doesn't have much to do with video and audio editing, but kinda does ...........
I know this depends on a lot of things that are relative to the 'individual' and how they work and what they're after. Depends too on GB's of storage available. At the moment I'm managing with my MBP's 200 GB drive and a 300 GB FW ext drive. Knowing I need more!!!!
Not that I think I'll emulate anyone, but am curious how you manage your files, when do you toss this or that, do keep everything, how many drives do you have, ever use DVDs to back up?
My 'aim' is to set up a home theater using one of my older macs, a MDD, has a 9800 Pro Vid card, and plenty of drive space. The process of digitizing/ripping/encoding all the video and audio is loading me up with seemingly redundant files. Yet I make excuses for why I 'should' keep stuff. One thing seems definite and that is maintaining any original files, whether ripped or downloaded, that way any reprocessing can be done if needed.
Encoding an avi to dvd not only produces the Video_TS but also m2v, ac3 and mpg files. Since original files are safely stashed, if I'm happy with my Video_TS, then I've been dumping the other 3 ..... I hate throwing anything away. Anyway this is just one example of extraneous files I'm not 'sure' what to do with. There are other examples like rar files that need expanding, they are the original files, but I have what I need, and rar's can be quite large to hold on to.
Anyone want to pitch in on this?
I was using HCEncGUI to encode a film using an AviSynth script that I'd used before to repal a PAL-NTSC converted disc and then slow down the resulting progressive 24.975 to 23.976. I've had success with this before on a 100 minute film. This particular project at NTSC speed ran 130 minutes. On the first pass (which took nearly 4 hours) everything seemed okay but as the second pass started, it looked okay but then began to break up into a heavily pixellated mess. I stopped the encoding and took some screencaps with PowerDVD. After the point where I stopped, it looks okay (I'm guessing thats from the previous encode).
Does HCEncGUI have a problem encoding 2+ hour films (at single layer bitrate - the original m2v was also below 4 GB) or is it the speed of my computer (the 100 minute project and another 90 minute film I used this .avs script with took about five hours total for 2 pass encoding)?
Here are the caps (resized to 480 x 360):
BTW, here is my .avs script but I don't think there's anything wrong with it:
loadplugin("c:\program files\avisynth 2.5\plugins\tdeint\tdeint.dll")
loadplugin("c:\program files\avisynth 2.5\plugins\repal.dll")
mpeg2source("d:\dvd\video_ts\VTS_01_1.demuxed.d2v")
tdeint(mode=1)
repal()
assumefps(23.976)
