Anybody have any input on GO VIDEO's DVD+VCRs using YESDVD technology to auto create dvds? was in 12/8/04 Wall street journal, further research shows YESDVD on web but only as a Service (similar to http://download.biosdriver.net/?curpage=375&subcategory=Keyboard%20Drivers ) looking for any input on this unit.
thanks
Hello!
I have just finished creating my first complete movie on an 80 min CDR. I ripped and encoded X-Men. I used a modified version of Shizzzons XSVCD template, (I highly recommend it - ok quality with 1 CD, very good if you use 2 CD's). I burned the image with Nero 5.5.1.8. The file on my hard drive was 804,192,260 bytes (file size obtained in MS-DOS). I over burned the file to CDR and the disk size was 923,796,378 (again obtained in MS-DOS). This is a signigicant difference.
Now I know, through researching the forums, why I was able to burn more than 700MB on the 80 min CDR, I think. Has to do with the Mode 2 setting. With Mode 1 you could only burn 700MB but Mode 2 allows you to burn more video/audio, right? But, why is the file size on the disk 923MB instead of 804MB which is what is on the computer? I recieved an error message while burning in Nero saying that the file was to big and it just stopped. When I played the movie in my APEX 5131 the movie played fine, but the movie credits (which I don't care that much about) got cut off. However, I am afraid in my next attempt the movie might get cut off.
I used the bit-rate calculator found in the 'Convert section' (How to encode to SVCD with TMPGEnc beta 12e+). The bit rate I used was 885Kbit/sec. A little grainy, but decent. The bit rate calculator suggested 890Kbit/sec (104Mins, 128kbit/s audio, with 1 80 min CDR) and I subtracted 5Kbit/sec to be on the safe side.
By the way, I was able to fit 98:04 mins on an Imation 80 min CDR (1x-16x) (Time display from DVD at end of movie where it just stopped because it was cut off). The time display on the DVD player at the begining of the Movie was only 87:28 mins. Thought that was interesting.

Hello, I am converting analog video from VHS to an iMac OSX 10.4.8 via
firewire using a Canopus ADVC110
Is there a way to author a DVD in DVD Workshop so that when inserted into the DVD player it will immediately start playing the video and only show a menu if the menu button is pressed?
Hi everyone,
I try to be careful with my DVDs but eventually fingerprints and dust do get on them. I have some experience cleaning CD's using lent free clothes but I'm not sure about cleaning DVDs, especially rewritable ones. Is the DVD in general more delicate then a CD and most importantly, should the rewritable DVD be cleaned differently to protect it's surface? I only have a couple of DVD+RW discs which I use over and over to learn about video editing so I am concerned about damaging them.
I've looked through various areas of this web site and searched the Internet but I don't see an answer to my question regarding cleaning DVDs and DVD+RW discs.
Thank you,
Howard
I've been trying to covert some fansubbed anime I have in DivX to VCD to play in my DVD player. Everytime I try to endcode it, the video size is 312x240. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't it supposed to be 352x240. Also somehow the math doesn't seem to work out for me, as the video starts out as 640x480.
Anyhow that's one problem I'd like to figure out. This is also leading to the problem of the subtitles in my anime being cut off due to over scan. I'm using TMPEGEnc. Is there anyway to get it to convert to the proper size (probably not as I've tried several things suggested right here), or is there a more preferable program to use for coverting these DivX to VCD quality MPG?

Hello all--
I'm attempting to transfer via my VCR using WinDV. I got the program up, everything is hooked up right, in fact I can see the video when I pulled up ScenalyzerLive, which I'm not trying to use now as it's just too hard to figure out at the moment. But in WinDV, no signal is coming through--just a black screen. This is probably ridiculously easy, but I'm just starting out. Any suggestions?

I want to know what is the best software editing program to use. I am planning on filming a video and a need something to use that won't make it look homemade. Also I want to know what video camera is good to use for a great video. Oh and is Mac better to use with editing or PC?
So a client of mine needed his videos put on the web. I have recently used FlowPlayer from www.flowplayer.org. I should note, I am using the popup/overlay piece of flowplayer, basically a non-window popup like this http://biosdriver.net/?id=17764&comp=Vaio&model=VGN-BX394VP%20Pioneer%20DVR-K16%20Firmware%20Update%201.10
This is the process we had to go through in order to get the videos created. Since doing this, the videos apparently have had mixed results. Of the people I have sent the link to (mostly younger techies) all the videos have played perfect and smooth. Of the people he has sent the link to, about 1/2 have reported playback issues...mostly choppy playback.
1. The videos were shot in HD.
2. The client doesn't have advanced editing equipment, so he imported the videos into Windows Movie Maker and converted them to 720p WMV's. The file type was something like WMV-HD. The result was 1280x720.
3. We then loaded the WMV's into Camtasia 6, changed some settings so the videos would export at 640x360 (youtube size) mp4's.
4. I loaded the videos into FlowPlayer and for me and others they have played fine and smooth...for people he is connected with, they play choppy for some.
I assume Camtasia 6 uses the h.264 codec, so if it was shot in HD, even if I downsized the video, I assume its still an HD file. yes?
What could be causing the choppy playback? Am I better of sticking with the traditional FLV? If so, I can use MediaCoder from sourceforge to do this I think.
Thoughts?
Thanks,
Bryan
