Hello, I'm new to these forums. I know how to burn a vcd using MainConcept but I'm having trouble burning a large sized movie. Eg. I try to open 'XMEN_3_The_Last_Stand', when I click open I get this "No video data found". I read the MainConcept guide and it mentions VFAPI converter and VirtualDub but doesn't tell me exactly how they help to load my movies. sad.gif Please help. I'm sorry if this type of help has been asked before. Thanks.

When booting from the livecd, I have to choose the live-safe option or the video is dropped during boot. I installed gentoo from the most recent stage2 tarball under live-safe as per the online instructions, but when booting the new system the video is dropped (black screen) almost immediately after starting the boot. It looks as thought I need my installed system to do whatever it is that live-safe mode is doing. Any ideas?

Specs if they help:

G4 Cube (450MHz)
ATI Rage 128
576MB
80GB

The nvidia drivers were working on my machine until a kernel upgrade
2.6.23-gentoo-r6 --> 2.6.23-gentoo-r9

> emerge nvidia-drivers
- no problem

> eselect opengl set nvidia
- fine

> modprobe nvidia
- FATAL: Error inserting nvidia (/lib/modules/2.6.23-gentoo-r9/video/nvidia.ko): Unknown symbol
in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)

> dmesg |grep nv
nvidia: module license 'NVIDIA' taints kernel.
nvidia: Unknown symbol i2c_del_adapter
nvidia: Unknown symbol i2c_add_adapter

> changed i2c from module to being built into kernel

WORKS! Hopefully this helps someone else who's been stuck on this.

Going to be burning the same disc, on the same media, at the same speed, in triplicate.

Please note, burning more than one backup copy is not legal, and I am doing this for testing purpoeses *ONLY*. After burning, all but the best backup, is being destroyed. I will post scans using DVDInfo Pro, and CDSpeed on my NEC3500, and KProbe using my Liteon 832S.

Test media will be CMC MAG E01, burned at 8x. (It's rated speed).

I used Img ToolBurn 1.1.8
I used Nero Burning Rom 6.3.1.6
I used DVD Decrypter 3.5.2.0

The file, is a Video_TS file for ImgTools.
For Nero, and DVD Decrypter, this file was made into a .nrg using ImgTools, to ensure the closest possible image was written to each disc.

I have six quite short voice-over videos (of my father hunting in the New Zealand Mountains in the 1960's). they are each about 20min long each and I would like for him to be able to provide sets of these to friends with DVD players using CD-R's. I know that I can use VCD formats with hardware DVD players and CD-R's but this degrades already questionable quality video. Because the movies are so short, can i use the DVD formats on a CD-R and would most players read them. I'm new to this so please excuse this is its exceedingly dumb.

I am ripping DVD's to SVCD. I use:

SmartRipper or DVDDcrypter
DVD2AVI
TMPGEnc 2.51
Rate Control Mode: Automatic VBR (CQ_VBR)
Q=70
Max. Bitrate=2520
Min. Bitrate=0
Motion Search Precision: High Quality (slow)
VCDEasy or NTI CD Maker to burn

I have done over 200 movies. They are all NTSC. If the DVD is coded "progressive", I have no problem, but I have yet to get satisfactory results when the DVD is coded "interlaced". I have read many posts on this subject and the suggestions range from "do nothing and treat as progressive" up to "DO NOT select forced film in DVD2AVI and then use inverse telecine in TMPGEnc, trying both field A first and field B first". I view the resultant SVCD through an Apex 5131 on a Toshiba 65-inch widescreen digital TV (it is here that I want the movie to look good, since I don't watch them on the PC). As I understand it (and obviously, I don't) if after you select the VOB's that were ripped as input to DVD2AVI and then press F5, you can get info on the movie. It is here that you can see from the stats panel whether the movie is progressive or interlaced and also what the actual aspect ration is. If the movie was coded as interlaced, The suggestions say NOT to use "forced film" in DVD2AVI, then in TMPGEnc choose "interlace" in the advance panel and also select "inverse telecine" (I have tried both "flicker prioritized" and "motion prioritized" here) and try both "field A first" and "field B first".
This always results in a picture which looks great if there is no action, but with action, the video stutters and jumps horizontally. This gets even worse if the camera is panning during the action.
Maybe if I had a better handle on exactly what "forced film", "inverse telecine", and the more subtle settings in TMPGEnc do, I would not be asking for help. Does anybody have any suggestions? All responses are greatly appreciated.

Every time cut an .avi file, the sound always seems to be about a half second off from the video. I use virtualdub or vcdcutter to cut my avi files and they both seem to have that problem. What do i do and how do i fix it?

I have 2 DivX widescreen movies that I am trying to convert to widescreen VCDs. I have successfully managed to convert the image using TMPGEnc and burnt the CD using nero which plays fine on my PC but when I try to play the CD in my DVD player the audio is fine but the video stops for ten seconds or so then changes to catch up with the audio. This happens with both DivX files I have.

Reconverting the original DivX movies produces exactly the same result - same error same position in the movie. realmad.gif

You can edit ANY dvd with Cyberhome CH1500, long as the dvd+RW is not full.

1- Get the DVD onto a +RW disk, I use "DVD Decrypter".
2- Add a few seconds of a new file, ie record a TV show live for a few seconds.
3- Stop wait a few seconds as the CH 1500 or 2500 does its thing.
4- Hit Menu button and there are the files in CH format ready to be edited and chapters to be added or deleted.
5- I did NOT make the dvd compatible.

----
Results:
There was no audio on CH playback of the original file.
The few seconds of Live TV played normally on both DVD recorders.

Chapters were made and a TV ad was hidden on the original video.

A. On LiteOn Playback, everything seemed normal.
B. The added chapters worked on LiteOn 5001.
C. The TV ad was deleted ("Hidden") on LiteOn's playback.
D. There was no apparent audio problem.
E. The small CH file played fine even though it was not made compatible!

----

Futher test with LiteOn & Sampo will be added to this lead posting.

Hello,

Not sure if this is the right forium for this but here goes. Have tried to search for a solution to this but all I come up with are the classic sync problems in MKV

I have a Movie with a German soundtrack which I would like to replace with the English soundtrack.

I got the English track from an AVI version of the film. As it happens, the English version of the video has a different start time than the MKV version with the german track.

I would like to mux the Video with the english track but I have no way of doing it visually other than by trial and error by muxing them in MKVMERGEGUI with the delay option. It take a while to mux so after trying it for about 5 timesso far, I am ready to give up.

is there a way for me to visually slide the soundtrack back and forth until it matches the lip sync?

Thanks all for your help!
